About the Luthier
From his earliest memories, music has played a central role in Moretto's life. He began his formal musical training at the age of 11, starting with the trumpet, moving on to the piano at the Presidente Epitácio Conservatory in São Paulo, Brazil, and then to the transverse flute at the Presidente Prudente Conservatory. Moretto's passion for musical instruments deepened when he joined a local orchestra and started making small repairs to his own flute. This initial interest in instrument mechanics led him to seek basic training in piano tuning.
Realizing that his vocation was firmly rooted in the world of musical instruments, Moretto decided to deepen his knowledge by studying Physics at Unesp University, with a focus on acoustics. Parallel to his studies, he developed and launched his first business, manufacturing and selling the traditional Brazilian flute, the "pífaro," reaching sales of around 50 instruments per month by the age of 25.
His career then took a significant turn when he joined one of the largest musical instrument distributors in Brazil. Here, Moretto gained extensive knowledge in guitar construction, both acoustic and electric. This role eventually led him to China, where he spent more than a decade working closely with various musical instrument factories, honing his production and consulting skills. His vast experience in China was transformative, allowing him not only to consult but also to learn efficient manufacturing processes. This experience paved the way for him to establish his own factory, Fiorese Pianos, specializing in the production of Piano Shells.
Today, with nearly two decades of experience in acoustics and musical instrument making, Moretto, a member of the BVMA (British Violin Making Association), holds patents for innovative musical instruments and tools for production processes. Recently, due to family reasons and as an Italo-Brazilian, he and his family decided to move to Portugal, embarking on a new chapter in his career. Here, Moretto continues to pursue his passion, now focusing on the creation and repair of violins.
Every instrument tells a story. Few stories resonate deeply.
